: Need To Link Health & Social Care
A new and influential report has said that councils
and health authorities "cannot afford to wait"
for the NHS to create a shared electronic records
system and need more resources urgently to link
up health and social care.

: Trust Signs Contract For Electronic Patient Records
And Picture Archiving Communication System:
Southern Derbyshire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust has
announced that the contract to provide an Electronic
Patient Record (EPR) and Picture Archiving Communication
System (PACS) for the whole of the Trust has been
signed. The contract worth £14.9m creates
a partnership between the Trust, iSOFT (EPR) and
GE Medical Systems (PACS). The contract has been
signed in advance of the National Programme for
Information Technology (NPfIT). The national programme
will provide a system that will allow patient information
held by hospitals to be accessible through any hospital
in the country.

: ECCI - Electronic Clinical Communications Implementation
- is a programme of work to ensure relevant NHS
Scotland staff share appropriate information about
patients electronically under necessary safeguards.
It is the electronic joining up of GPs and practice
based staff (Primary Care) with clinicians in the
hospital setting so that the patient's experience
of NHS Scotland is improved.
